BALI SHOPPING
Shopping in Bali is incredible and for many revisiting Bali lovers, shopping is one of the soul reasons for making the trip here. Beginning in Kuta there is a fast growing high street shopping area that offers all of the world's biggest international companies in terms of surfing, sports and designer clothes at a fraction of the prices you are used to paying in the western world. There are also many tailors, leather tailors and clothes makers of every kind who area able to produce any style or design you can throw at them for a very reasonable price. Most of this kind of shopping is in boutique stores and done in a similar way to back at home, but if you really want to delve into the depths of Bali can offer than go to a local market and haggle over traditional fabrics, bedclothes, robes, cloths and all sorts of other exotic goods.
From jewelry carved from wood and coral for as little as half a dollar to personalized tailor made goods of the highest quality, Bali offers an array of amazing goods that has lead to the creation of a thriving export industry. But it doesn't stop at cloths, if you head to Ubud there are some amazing art galleries and markets that display the famous works of Ubud's incredible painter's community as well as the carvers and other skilled crafts. This area is out of this world offering not only traditional Balinese paintings that are really only appreciated by those who have come to Bali and seen the scenery and the culture, but also many modern pieces of various styles and abstract wonders. If you are interested in art and even if you are not, no one can deny the marvelous inspirations of this area and when you can take home a sample of this for so little it is definitely not worth missing out on.
In all areas where there are a number of tourists there are also many stalls and shops that sell goods that tourists often require. You can by sunglasses, board shorts, tee shirts (some of which are rather amusing and some of which represent local beers and so forth). There are also a number of practical items such as hats, sun cream, plug adapters and bags, all at bargain prices. Other popular low price products are all of the latest DVDs at a dollar a DVD and even cheaper when you buy in bulk, it is also usually possible to view the DVD in the store before buying it to check the quality.
In general the shopping in Bali is very good and as long as you keep the receipts and don't buy from street sellers it is almost always possible to obtain a refund for legitimate reasons. The boutique shopping is usually the focus of the holiday maker and offers delicate wonders but the most fun and unique finds are to be had in the traditional markets.
