The cheap and budget range of accommodation in Ubud is similar in format to that of Kuta and the rest of Bali, although the general standard is high and there is a more traditional bungalow style present here and a far more cultural atmosphere. If your budget is over the $15-$20 a night mark you can expect a reasonable room with a decent level of luxury services, a pool and facilities including hot water. There are also more conventional hotels style buildings. Most of the mid to higher level budget accommodation and cheap hotels in Ubud are similar in style and layout to the classic Ubud thatched cottage bungalows that line the top end market. The feel is similar and really it is only the high tech and gold trim luxuries that you will miss out on. .

Budget accommodation in Ubud is usually far more tranquil and relaxed and more suited to couples and families due to the quieter and often less hedonistic more cultured demographic found in Ubud, breakfast, tours and spas are often available. Expect hot water, balconies, pools, mini bars and other services. What ever you go for it is almost always (apart from the in the most popular places) possible to agree a lower price for a longer stay.
